How is romanticism different from realism

It was possible only when there is that opportunity to experiences life in its entirety and experiment with the different recipes of emotion. This meant to try out different things whether it is the different genre of literature to different streams of musical sound or for that matter tasting different flavours of cuisines or getting the flavour of engaging with different cultures.

Romanticism was about expanding the boundary of imagination and exploring the counters of emotions. At the highest level it was all about the idea of expression and celebration. It was that of harnessing the latent power of human nature while openly cherishing the true beauty of nature. It was all aimed at in truly nurturing the immense power of imagination. Nature was considered pure and powerful; man was really empowered when he was close to nature.

It was an imaginative respond to the so called innovative development ushered in by the Industrial Revolution. Romantics believed that man was born pure.

He lived happily when stayed closed to nature but society constantly pulled him away with temptation and treachery. Therefore nature became a symbol of good life without the corrupted intervention of a bad society. The Age of Enlightenment , it was a philosophical movement of the 18th century, characterized by belief in the power of human reason and by innovations in political, religious, and educational doctrine.

It was thought during the Enlightenment that human reasoning also known as the Age of Reasoning could discover truths about the world and could be used to improve the lives of mankind.

It is so much about casting off the superstitions and fear of the Medieval Era. There was an overlapping of this period of Enlightenment with that of the period of Industrial Revolution. Using the second, dependent variables, we identify two broad categories of phenomena that theories of realism attempt to explain: theory of international politics and theory of foreign policy. Realism recognises that trade regulations can be used to correct domestic distortions and to promote new industries.

Under realism, states possess a high degree of discretionary power to influence many variables and prices in the economy. While realism has a cyclical view of history a repetition of patterns of behaviour it has failed to successfully make any specific predictions.

Most startlingly, realists failed to predict the end of the Cold War; given its pretensions to be, if not scientific, then at least useful, this is a very serious weakness. It was a movement that was defined by the spontaneous and exploratory measures of artists who worked with the pen, as well as the paintbrush. The Romanticism era would emerge in art form in England and would soon take hold in Germany and other nearby countries as well. Some of the first paintings of the Romanticism era were focused on landscapes or seascapes in which painters would create a scene that would involve humans and animals. These scenes often invoked images that were Gothic in nature and seemed to bring back various themes and figures from Greek or Roman mythology.

Many artists would portray their modern-day figures and landscapes with a distinctive mythological twist with women appearing like robed goddesses and men having the muscular physique that was common among portrayals of Greek gods. Romanticism revived the sense of religious or nationalist themes by using these embellished methods of depiction that invoked Greek or Roman mythology in their paintings. The result was a litany of works that were beautifully dramatic and told the story of just how the artist felt about a certain idea or event.

Romanticism had been the dominant form of artistic expression throughout Europe for a couple generations and artists were very much growing tired of the same over-the-top style of portrayal and classical imagery that was common. Realism broke through this fanciful style of depiction and presented the world exactly as it was. Most artists quickly realized that by painting the world around them in exact, accurate detail, they would be creating works that had truly never been done before because much of the industrialized world had never been captured in paintings.

Photography had not come about yet and it was painters who first sought to capture the world around them in a way that documented people, places, things and events in a way that told a story to those who were viewing these works. The author is separate from the world of the story and acts as an objective transcriptionist.

The characters are normal, everyday people and the events of the plot are typically normal and have a distinct lack of supernatural or fantastical elements. Realism is a common choice for writers of literary fiction, because it focuses on characters and characterization.

In realism, even time and place are meant to enforce the characterization and normalcy of the characters and events.
